Prof. Mark G. Hans (USA)
Title of lecture: Sleep apnea in teens: What do we really know?
Dr. Mark Hans received his DDS and MSD degrees in dentistry and orthodontics at Case Western Reserve University. He is currently professor and chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at Case Western’s School of Dental Medicine, and has maintained an active orthodontic practice in Berea, Ohio since 1981. Dr. Hans is also actively engaged in research, his main interests being assessment of orthodontic outcomes and the demographics of orthodontic practice, 3D Imaging, and the orthodontist’s role in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. He has lectured extensively on those subjects in the US and abroad. He is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is coauthor with Dr. Donald Enlow of the textbook on facial growth, “Essentials of Facial Growth”.
Prof. Manish Valiathan (USA)
Title of lecture: Beyond Beauty: Craniofacial Care, Patient Perceptions, and Technological Advancements
Dr. Manish Valiathan received his dental and specialty training in Orthodontics from the College of Dental Surgery, Manipal, the number 1-ranked Dental College in India. After briefly serving on the Orthodontic faculty in Manipal, he joined Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, where he retrained and graduated from the School of Dental Medicine (D.D.S.) and the Orthodontic program (M.S.D.). He has worked on the full-time faculty for over 20 years and is a professor with joint appointments in the departments of Orthodontics and Plastic Surgery in the School of Medicine. He founded the first university-based Craniofacial Orthodontic Fellowship Program in the United States in 2011. Dr. Valiathan is a Senior Associate of the Bolton Brush Growth Study Center, and he is well-funded through various agencies, including the NIH. With over fifty peer-reviewed publications, he is an active member of the Craniofacial Biology Research group at Case. His research focus is on craniofacial growth, craniofacial clinical outcomes, and post-orthodontic changes. Dr. Valiathan has served various organizations at the National level, including the American Cleft Palate Association, at the State level, including being on the Governor of Ohio’s advisory council, and at the local level, including the Cleveland Society of Orthodontists. He serves on the editorial review panel for nine journals, including the premium orthodontic journals: the AJODO and Angle Orthodontist. Dr. Valiathan has contributed to multiple textbooks. He has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, and his work has received recognition and awards within the US and abroad. In 2019, he was elected to the International College of Dentists. He serves as the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Valiathan also maintains a busy private practice in the suburbs of Cleveland while focusing his intra-mural clinical responsibilities on surgical and craniofacial orthodontics.

Prof Giuseppe Scuzzo (Italy)
Title of lecture: Reliability of digital planning in lingual orthodontic treatments in Class II cases with and without extractions
Prof. Giuseppe Scuzzo, graduated in medicine in 1983 (Rome University) and specialized in dentistry in 1987 (Rome University) and orthodontics at Ferrara University.
He has always worked exclusively in orthodontics, with a special interest in lingual orthodontics since 1983 . Author of numerous publications (80) regarding this technique, Dr. Scuzzo has spoken and published extensively on high impact factor journal in Italy and abroad on lingual orthodontics.
He collaborates ( as a teacher) with the major European Universities, and is a professor in the lingual technique at Ferrara University, Complutense University and adjunct Professor at New York University. He is also director of the First International Master in Lingual orthodontics at Ferrara University, Director of the PG Program in Lingual Orthodontics at the Complutense University of Madrid, Co-Director Master Advanced Study in Lingual Orthodontics University of Basel and Harvard School Dental Medicine.
Together with Prof. Takemoto he gives many seminars and courses all over the world about LSW Technique. Prof. Scuzzo has a private practice limited to lingual orthodontics in Rome Italy.
Prof Anna Goranson Westerlund (Sweden)
Title of lecture: Interceptive Orthodontic Treatment – Traditional Appliances or Modern Innovations?
Anna Westerlund is Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Gothenburg, and Chair of the Swedish Orthodontic Society. With specialist training in orthodontics, a PhD in biomaterials, and over three decades of clinical and academic experience, she combines leadership, education, and research that bridges science and clinical practice.
Clinically, she works at Mun-H-Center, a national resource center for rare diseases, where she provides orthodontic care for patients with complex conditions.
Her translational research focuses on craniofacial growth, tooth eruption, orofacial function, and interceptive care. She also contributes to a national study on genetic susceptibility to caries in orthodontic patients. Committed to quality improvement, she leads the development of orthodontic care in Sweden’s largest dental organisation and has contributed to the Swedish National Guidelines for Orthodontic Treatment.
Prof. Alfonso Alvarado Lorenzo (Spain)
Title of lecture: The impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in the field of orthodontics on craniofacial growth.
Professor Alvarado is Head of Orthodontics at the University of Salamanca. As a professor of Orthodontics, participates in various postgraduate courses both nationally and internationally. These include programs at New York University (College of Dentistry).
He has successfully completed a master's degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthodontics at the University of Alcalá and is a specialist in Lingual Orthodontics, a field in which he has obtained a degree from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has completed postgraduate studies at world-renowned institutions such as Stanford, Harvard, and New York University.
He is the author of 130 conference papers at national and international conferences, as well as 35 scientific articles with Journal Citation Reports (JCR) impact factor.
Dr. Alvardo has served as editor and reviewer for several JCR-impact factor journals, including Orthodontics & Craniofacial Research, Clinical Oral Investigation, BMC Oral Health, and several others.
He is the director of internationally renowned doctoral theses and research and teaching projects at the University of Salamanca.
Affiliation with scientific societies: The following professional societies are recognized: the Spanish Society of Orthodontics, the Ibero-American Society of Orthodontists, and the Spanish Society of Dental Sleep Medicine.
In 2017, he was awarded the title of Academician of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Valladolid in recognition of his distinguished career and important contributions to research in the field of orthodontics, aligners, and biomedicine. He has been recognized with multiple awards and distinctions, including the Research Grant from the Spanish Society of Orthodontics in 2011 (Barcelona).
The practice of orthodontics and aesthetic rehabilitation is carried out privately at the Dr. Alvarado Dental Clinics in Madrid, founded in 1978 and under current management since 2003.
Prof. Martyn Cobourne (England)
Title of lecture 1: Automated speech recognition for orthodontic clinical note-taking.

Prof. Martyn Cobourne graduated from King’s College London in 1990 and undertook specialty training in orthodontics at King’s College Hospital (1994-97). He was then awarded a Medical Research Council Clinical Training Fellowship and undertook a period of basic science research in Paul Sharpe’s laboratory at Guy’s Dental Hospital, which led to the award of a PhD (1998-2001). This research won the Senior Colgate Prize of the British Society of Dental Research in 2000.
Following a period of further clinical training, he was appointed as Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Orthodontics at King’s College London in 2004 and promoted to Professor of Orthodontics in 2011.
His research is primarily focused on the role of molecular signaling pathways during early development of the head and face, with a particular focus on the role of Sonic hedgehog signal transduction.
However, he is also interested in the effectiveness of contemporary orthodontic treatment interventions and has led a number of randomised clinical trials investigating the efficiency of orthodontic treatment.
He has published over 130 peer-reviewed articles and is the author of two successful orthodontic textbooks, the Handbook of Orthodontics (Elsevier) and Clinical Cases in Orthodontics (Wiley).
His research has won a number of prizes, including the British Orthodontic Society Chapman Prize for best research article (2014, 2016 and 2018) and the American Association of Orthodontists Dewel Award for best clinical research in 2019.
He has been invited to present a number of prestigious lectures, including the Charles Tomes Lecture at the Royal College of Surgeons, England (2015) and the Northcroft Lecture at the British Orthodontic Society Conference in 2018.
He was a Trustee and Director of Research at the British Orthodontic Society (2012-2016) and has been Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Orthodontics since 2012. In 2017 he became a full member of the USA North Atlantic Division of the Angle Society of Orthodontists and was elected to the Board of Faculty of Dental Surgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Assc. Prof. Aliki Tsichlaki (England)
Assc. Prof. Aliki Tsichlaki qualified as a dentist from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ in 2008. She completed my NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Orthodontics (Honorary Specialty Registrar) training at the University of Manchester and obtained my MOrth in 2014 and her Master of Research with distinction. She obtained her ISFE in 2016 and her PhD from QMUL in 2020, after being awarded a research fellowship funded jointly by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the British Orthodontic Society.
She is currently Associate Professor / Honorary Consultant in Orthodontics at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and Deputy Programme Director for the MClinDent in Orthodontics.
Over the past twelve years, she has treated a comprehensive range of orthodontic patients of various complexity levels. These range from straightforward adolescent orthodontics to multidisciplinary cases involving adults with diverse restorative needs, such as periodontal disease and hypodontia, as well as craniofacial anomalies, such as cleft lip and palate and orthognathic surgery.
Dr. Tsichlaki has excellent communication and team-working skills and over the last few years she has been heavily involved in teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in orthodontics. She has a strong interest in academia and have published research in scientific journals with high impact factors.
Dr. Tsichlaki holds professional memberships with the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) and European Orthodontic Society. She is currently sub-editor for the Journal of Orthodontics and was an elected member of the BOS Training Grades Group Committee from 2014 – 2016.
Prof Moschos A. Papadopoulos (Greece)
Title of lecture: Current aspects of orthodontic treatment of patients with open bite
Prof. Moschos A. Papadopoulos is Professor, Chairman and Program Director at the Department of Orthodontics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and Visiting Professor at the University of Vienna, Austria, and of Messina and of Naples, Italy. He was the founder and served as first President of the Balkan Association of Orthodontic Specialists and President of the Orthodontic Society of Northern Greece. Dr. Papadopoulos is Honorary Editor of the "Hellenic Orthodontic Review", was Asst. Editor of the "World Journal of Orthodontics” and is/was Member of the Editorial Board of 21 peer reviewed journals, and Reviewer for 47 journals. He is also active member in more than 23 national and international societies. Dr. Papadopoulos received several awards and distinctions (among others from AAO, AJO-DO, WFO, BAOS, FEO, GAPS, GOS, OSNG, HSE, and AUTh), and his main interests include the subjects of "noncompliance orthodontic treatment", "temporary anchorage devices in orthodontics", and "evidence-based orthodontics". Dr. Papadopoulos has written three books, has published more than 235 scientific publications, and has presented more than 420 lectures, courses and papers worldwide.
Prof. Christos Rachiotis (Greece)
Title of lecture: Game-Changing Protection: The Science and Safety Behind Mouthguards
Rahiotis Christos, DDS, MSc in Dental Materials, PhD in Oral Biology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is a Professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has published 130 papers. He is the President of Hellenic Association for Sports Dentistry and Board member of European Associations for Sports Dentistry. He has received 4 scientific prizes. He is a reviewer for 51 International Journals.
Asst. Prof. Iva Djorova (Bulgaria)
Title of lecture: Digital orthodontics in the craniofacial therapy: a team-based approach
Dr. Iva Djorova is an orthodontic specialist and Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University of Sofia. She also serves as a mentor in the academic program for aligner therapy within the same department. Dr. Djorova is one of the founders and the current Board President of Bulgarian Orthodontic Aligner Society (BOAS). Since the beginning of 2025, she has been also serving as a clinical advisor in aligner orthodontics for Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Malta.
With nearly 20 years of orthodontic practice, Dr. Djorova has extensive experience in both fixed and aligner-based orthodontic treatment. Her clinical focus includes the management of complex multidisciplinary cases, severe skeletal deformities, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
Dr. Djorova earned her dental degree in 2005 from the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University of Sofia. After completing her specialty in Orthodontics and defending her PhD thesis on “Research of Occlusal Relationships in the Finishing Phase of Orthodontic Treatment” in 2016, she started her academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics.
She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, a participant in national research projects, and a recipient of awards for poster and oral presentations. Dr. Djorova has completed numerous postgraduate training programs and certification courses across Europe and United States in fixed appliance therapy, aligner-based orthodontic treatment, aesthetic dentistry, and implantology.
She is a member of several professional organizations, including the European Orthodontic Society (EOS), the European Aligner Society (EAS), the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), the Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO), the Balkan Association of Orthodontic Specialists (BAOS), Bulgarian Orthodontic Society (BOS), the Bulgarian Orthodontic Aligner Society (BOAS), the Bulgarian Dental Association (BDA), and the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Dental Medicine.

Prof. Mosche Davidovitch (Israel)
Dr. Moshe Davidovitch earned his BA in Biology from The University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), his DDS from The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio), and his MMSc and Certificate in Orthodontics from Harvard University (Boston, Massachusetts). His research interests are biomechanics, biology of tooth movement, clinical treatment effects and technological applications in orthodontics. He has published numerous articles and text book chapters related to these topics.
He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at the Maurice and Gabriella Goldschlager School of Dental Medicine at Tel Aviv University (Tel Aviv, Israel). He also maintains an active private practice limited to orthodontics.

Dr. Kseniia Lagonotte (France)
Title of lecture: Designing the Ideal Setup: A Functional and Biological Approach
Dr. Kseniia Lagonotte is an orthodontist specializing in functional orthodontics and
biomechanics-based clear aligner treatment planning. She coordinates orthodontic
treatment remotely for clinics using in-house aligners in Russia and Kazakhstan, creating precise movement sequences that integrate occlusion, TMJ diagnostics, and facial balance.
With extensive experience in digital platforms (SoftSmile, Exocad, OnyxCeph), Dr. Lagonotte also serves as a mentor, having trained over 100 doctors in aligner biomechanics and treatment strategy. Her work focuses on developing clinical protocols that combine function and aesthetics, while exploring how artificial intelligence can support orthodontists and ensure predictable, patient-centered outcomes.
Asst Prof Nearchos Panayi (Cyprus)
Dr. Nearchos C. Panayi, DDS, DOrth, MOrth, is an orthodontist based in Limassol, Cyprus. He is a scientific collaborator at the European University Cyprus and a visiting Research Scientist at the Clinic of Orthodontics,Center of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, in Switzerland. He is a medical research at Athens medical school, Greece.He studied dentistry at Athens Dental School (1992–1997) and orthodontics at Tel Aviv University (1998–2001) before building his private practice, which has grown into two fully digital orthodontic offices in Limassol and Larnaca, Cyprus. His passion for digital technology encouraged him to use it in orthodontics, and as a huge fan of the in-house 3D designing and printing concept in orthodontics, Dr Panayi has helped develop concepts, ideas, and methods that will transform traditional orthodontics to customized-centered digital orthodontics. He is the inventor of the orthodontic CAD software Ubrackets for in-house designing of customized fixed orthodontic appliances, and he introduced the use of general-purpose CAD software in orthodontics for orthodontic appliance design. He is the editor of «DIY, Design It Yourself Orthodontics» book that was released by Quintessence USA in July 2021. He is a co-author in other orthodontics books and published articles on in–house customized brackets, aligner printing and bracket material research. He is married and has six children.
Asst Prof Maria Karakousoglou (USA)
Dr. Maria Karakousoglou was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She attended dental school at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, and graduated with her dental degree in 2016. Following her graduation, she worked as a general dentist, gaining valuable experience in collaboration with orthodontists. Seeking further training in orthodontics, she relocated to the US and completed a three-year residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA) School of Dentistry, earning a master’s degree in Dental Sciences. Additionally, she completed a fellowship in lingual orthodontics at UTHSA. Currently, she holds a full- time Assistant Professor role at UTHSA with a specialized focus on digital orthodontics.
Dr. Karakousoglou is an ABO Certified Orthodontist and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists. She is the President of the American Lingual Orthodontic Association (ALOA) and serves on the board of the San Antonio Chapter of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), as well as the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR).
In her current role at UTHSA, she serves as the Interim Program Director of the Postgraduate Orthodontic Residency Program. Her teaching scope at UTHSA encompasses subjects such as growth and development, lingual orthodontics, digital technology in orthodontics, and aligner treatment.
Dr. Karakousoglou brings extensive experience in managing patients with complex craniofacial anomalies and is skilled in utilizing 3D printing technologies and clear aligner treatments. Her research interests align with her clinical expertise, actively engaging in studies related to the applications of digital technology in orthodontics. Dr. Nikolaos Karvelas earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2017 from the Medical University of Sofia. He subsequently specialized in orthodontics in 2022 from the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași, Romania. In 2023, he received a Master of Science degree in Clinical Trials from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. Since 2021, he has been pursuing a PhD in Orthodontics at the “Grigore T. Popa” in Iași, in collaboration with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Dr. Stefanos Matthaios earned his DDS from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MSc in Medical Research Methodology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He went on to receive a Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), where he is currently completing a CODA-accredited fellowship in Craniofacial, Surgical, and Special Care Orthodontics. His research on 3D printing applications in orthodontics has been published in leading journals. In addition to teaching orthodontic residents and dental students at CWRU, he served during his residency as U.S. Ambassador for the European Postgraduate Student Orthodontic Society.

Dr. Sara Drago (Italy)
Title of lecture: Biocompatibility and geometric accuracy of heat-reactivated direct-printed aligners with Active Memory Polymer – impacts on biomechanics and aligner treatment.
Graduated with full marks and publication dignity in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics from the University of Genoa. In 2016 she obtained a Master's Degree in Orthodontics from the Federico II University of Naples, and in 2017 she completed the Advanced Training Course in Advanced Clinical Solutions in New Technologies in Orthognathic Dentistry at the University of Genoa. She is a member of SIDO (Italian Society of Orthodontics) and SIBOS (Society of Biomechanics and Segmented Orthodontics). She has participated as a speaker in several refresher courses and collaborates as a peer reviewer with accredited journals in the sector. She is co-author of over 20 articles published in national and international specialist journals, and is co-winner of the best poster from the Italian Society of Orthodontics in 2021. She works as a freelancer, dedicating herself exclusively to the practice of Orthodontics.
She is currently completing a PhD programme in Material Sciences at the University of Genoa with a thesis on thermo-mechanical properties of smart materials for orthodontic appliances.
