Prof Athanasios Athanasiou (Cyprus)
Title of lecture: “Dentofacial and Occlusal Asymmetries”
Prof. Athanasios E. Athanasiou is the Acting Dean and Professor of Orthodontics at the School of Dentistry, European University Cyprus. He is Honorary Professor of Orthodontics, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), UAE. He graduated from the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, and completed his Orthodontic Residency at Temple University, USA. He earned an MSD from Temple University and a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He was President of the World Federation of Orthodontists, the European Federation of Orthodontics, the Greek Orthodontic Society and the Hellenic NARIC. He was President of the School of Dentistry and Professor and Chair of Orthodontics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, Dean and Professor of Orthodontics at MBRU, and Coordinator of Postgraduate Orthodontic Education at Aarhus University, Denmark. He has co-supervised 67 Ph.D. and Master’s theses, has published more than 200 scientific articles and chapters, has made more than 470 scientific presentations in 49 countries, and has edited 5 textbooks. He serves as referee in many scientific journals and international institutions, and is honorary member of several national orthodontic societies. He has received the Edward Cherkas Memorial Award by Temple University, the Zendium Prize by Aarhus University, the Louise Ada Jarabak Memorial Award by the American Association of Orthodontists, the Award of the European Federation of Orthodontics, and the Award for Excellence in Research, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In November 2022 the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Orthodontists launched the “Athanasios E. Athanasiou Best Orthodontic Master’s Thesis Award”. He maintains a private practice limited to Orthodontics in Athens, Greece since 1992.
Prof Leena Palomo (USA)
Title of lecture: “Multidisciplinary care for sophisticated cases”
Prof. Leena Palomo is an eminent educator, clinician and dental researcher, internationally recognized. With a solid academic background and a career marked by excellence, she stands out as a leading figure in Periodontology, committed to innovation, research and excellence in patient care.
She currently holds a senior position as Chair of the Arthur Ashman Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, one of the leading programs in periodontology.
Her research focus has centered on vital areas such as women's health, aesthetics and quality of life. Of particular note is her leadership in collaborating with the Cleveland Clinic and the Center for Specialized Women's Health. In addition, she has played a key role in periodontal research and treatment for rheumatoid spectrum diseases, speaking at numerous national and international conferences on Sjögren's and Rheumatology, as well as publishing her wellness findings in multidisciplinary and interprofessional journals. Likewise, her outstanding career in the field of Dentistry and Periodontology has been rewarded with several awards for her work and research. Some examples are the "Strides in Science", American Association of Dental Research November Researcher (2012), and the American Academy of Periodontology, Board of Trustees, Special Citation Award (2019). She also actively collaborates with the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Foundation to improve the dental health of society through the dissemination of periodontal diseases and their therapies.
Prof Martin Palomo (USA)
Title of lecture: “Sleep Apnea and the Orthodontist”
Prof. J. Martin Palomo is a tenured professor and the Orthodontic Residency director at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Palomo’s contributions have been recognized through medical and dental research awards, national and international presentations, and numerous peer-reviewed publications. He is the past chair of the AAO Committee on Technology, member of the AAO Council on Scientific Affairs, member of the AAO Foundation Planning Awards Committee, the AAO representative for Image Gently, member of the AAO Committee on Conferences and the Associate Editor for the Digital Orthodontics section of the AJODO. He is also a member of the AAO Task Force that provided a white paper on the orthodontist role on treating patients with Sleep Apnea. He is a board certified orthodontist, an Angle Society member, and an active member of both the Orthodontics and the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Associations, as well as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Prof Moschos A. Papadopoulos (Greece)
Title of lecture: “Orthodontic management of congenital missing teeth”
Prof. Moschos A. Papadopoulos is Professor, Chairman and Program Director at the Department of Orthodontics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and Visiting Professor at the University of Vienna, Austria, and of Messina and of Naples, Italy. He was the founder and served as first President of the Balkan Association of Orthodontic Specialists and President of the Orthodontic Society of Northern Greece. Dr. Papadopoulos is Honorary Editor of the "Hellenic Orthodontic Review", was Asst. Editor of the "World Journal of Orthodontics” and is/was Member of the Editorial Board of 21 peer reviewed journals, and Reviewer for 47 journals. He is also active member in more than 23 national and international societies. Dr. Papadopoulos received several awards and distinctions (among others from AAO, AJO-DO, WFO, BAOS, FEO, GAPS, GOS, OSNG, HSE, and AUTh), and his main interests include the subjects of "noncompliance orthodontic treatment", "temporary anchorage devices in orthodontics", and "evidence-based orthodontics". Dr. Papadopoulos has written three books, has published more than 235 scientific publications, and has presented more than 420 lectures, courses and papers worldwide.

Prof Giuseppe Scuzzo (Italy)
Title of lecture: “Severe Class II or Class III orthodontic treatments with surgery or camouflage using digital planning and lingual appliances”
Prof. Giuseppe Scuzzo, graduated in medicine in 1983 (Rome University) and specialized in dentistry in 1987 (Rome University) and orthodontics at Ferrara University.
He has always worked exclusively in orthodontics, with a special interest in lingual orthodontics since 1983 . Author of numerous publications (80) regarding this technique, Dr. Scuzzo has spoken and published extensively on high impact factor journal in Italy and abroad on lingual orthodontics.
He collaborates ( as a teacher) with the major European Universities, and is a professor in the lingual technique at Ferrara University, Complutense University and adjunct Professor at New York University. He is also director of the First International Master in Lingual orthodontics at Ferrara University, Director of the PG Program in Lingual Orthodontics at the Complutense University of Madrid, Co-Director Master Advanced Study in Lingual Orthodontics University of Basel and Harvard School Dental Medicine.
Together with Prof. Takemoto he gives many seminars and courses all over the world about LSW Technique. Prof. Scuzzo has a private practice limited to lingual orthodontics in Rome Italy.
Prof Anna Goranson Westerlund (Sweden)
Title of lecture: “Genetic Aspects of Caries in Orthodontic Patient- Risk Assessment, Prevention and Treatment”
Position: Professor and Head of the Orthodontic Department at Gothenburg University. President of the Swedish Orthodontic Society.
Professional Experience: Senior consultant at the Orthodontic Department since 2006. Currently working at the Mun-HCenter with patients who have rare diseases.
Education: PhD in Biomaterials (implant surfaces) and Bone Biology. Expertise and Roles:

Dr Leon Emdin with SDI software

Dr.Leon Emdin is a Dentist Prosthodontist Orthodontist and a Dental Manager. He graduated in 2000 from Pavlov’s State Medical University Saint Petersburg.

Dr Petros Kokkinos (Cyprus)
Title of lecture: “Non-surgical / extraction Approach for the Correction of Facial Asymmetries/MLD (Mandibular Lateral Displacement)”
Dr. Petros Kokkinos is a graduate of the School of Dentistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He specialized in orthodontics in the postgraduate program of the School of Dentistry at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans, USA. He further specialized in Craniofacial Orthodontics and Occlusion Medicine in San Francisco, USA, with Professor Sadao Sato.
He also specialized in Vienna with Professor Alain Landry in the method of "Controlled Mandibular Repositioning" for the treatment of TMJ dysfunctions using the "Stabilizer" appliance. He has published articles in AJODO (American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics), Journal of Calcified Tissue International, Inf. Orthodontic Kieforthopadische (journal of German orthodontic association).
He is a visiting lecturer in the orthodontic postgraduate program at LSU School of Dentistry in the USA, and in the postgraduate program of Prosthodontics at the University of Vienna.
Since 2023, he has been a scientific and teaching member of Viesid (Vienna School of Interdisciplinary Dentistry) and teaches the therapeutic approach "Functional Individualized Dentistry" and "Craniomandibular Orthodontics and Occlusion Medicine" at a local level (Cyprus) and in Vienna.
He served as a member of the Board of the Orthodontic Society of Cyprus for 18 years, during which he served twice as president. He was an AAO ambassador from 2012 to 2016. He is a member of local and international scientific societies and study clubs in Europe and America.
Asst Prof Nearchos Panayi (Cyprus)
Title of lecture: “In-office Directly Printed Aligners : Concept, Design, Printing and Evidence”
Dr. Nearchos C. Panayi, DDS, DOrth, MOrth, is an orthodontist based in Limassol, Cyprus. He is a scientific collaborator at the European University Cyprus and a visiting Research Scientist at the Clinic of Orthodontics,Center of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, in Switzerland. He is a medical research at Athens medical school, Greece.He studied dentistry at Athens Dental School (1992–1997) and orthodontics at Tel Aviv University (1998–2001) before building his private practice, which has grown into two fully digital orthodontic offices in Limassol and Larnaca, Cyprus. His passion for digital technology encouraged him to use it in orthodontics, and as a huge fan of the in-house 3D designing and printing concept in orthodontics, Dr Panayi has helped develop concepts, ideas, and methods that will transform traditional orthodontics to customized-centered digital orthodontics. He is the inventor of the orthodontic CAD software Ubrackets for in-house designing of customized fixed orthodontic appliances, and he introduced the use of general-purpose CAD software in orthodontics for orthodontic appliance design. He is the editor of «DIY, Design It Yourself Orthodontics» book that was released by Quintessence USA in July 2021. He is a co-author in other orthodontics books and published articles on in–house customized brackets, aligner printing and bracket material research. He is married and has six children.
